Pepsi Throwback Challenge

Ok, so my dad came home from Panama City the other night with a challenge to me, the family Pepsi connoisseur. (Oh, yes--I am definitely from the Pepsi Generation.) He had heard about Pepsi coming out with a new version of its signature cola, called Pepsi Throwback. The gimmick of Pepsi Throwback is that it is the same recipe used "before I was even born," according to my dad. The reality is that it is sweetened with real sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup, which "is the devil," according to my mom. It also has retro packaging.

WouldI be able to tell the difference? I did a taste test to find out. It was not blind, because I wanted to actually know which one I was drinking. I will try the blind taste test later.

First up, Pepsi as I have always known it:
It had been in the refridgerator for a few days, so it was ice cold and refreshing--just the way I like it!

Now for the Pepsi Throwback:Now, to be fair, the Pepsi Throwback had only been in the fridge for a few hours, so it was not as cold as the original Pepsi. That was probably the largest difference I noticed. The Pepsi Throwback was only a teeny tiny bit less sweet than original Pepsi. It was as if a thumb nail-sized piece of ice had melted in the glass--hardly noticeable at all!

I give Pepsi Throwback 5 stars! I will definitely pick one up the next time I'm at the gas station. Try it for yourself and let me know what you think!
