Easy Peasy, O-C-D-eesy: Purse Edition

I have a love/hate relationship with purses. I love them for all the reasons that you would love a purse--like its utility or overall general prettiness--but I also hate them for those exact same reasons.

Because sometimes a purse's prettiness is inversely proportional to its utility.

Case in point--I purchased a really wonderful pink crossbody that was super cheap from Target. I see it on everyone. Everyone but me.

Do you know how much stuff it takes to keep me happy every day? Giant wallet with every single card that counts as money and coupon known to man contained within--check. Giant iPhone 5 with its giant Otterbox--check. Hair brush that I never use but have just in case, even though there's one in my car--check. Gum, but only the kind that comes in a giant plastic box--check. Makeup bag containing Purell because everything in the outside world is icky, hand lotion because even Purell dries my hands out and I hate it when touching everything feels like licking a wooden ice cream spoon, lipstick of the day (or lipsticks of the week, depnding on whether I empty my purse out at the end of the day or just add stuff to it until it explodes), hair ties, bobby pins, all the medicine in the world, etc.--check. A tiny tube of chapstick floating around all on its own because trying to drive and unzip a makeup bag buried in the bottom of your purse is dangerous--check. Keys with giant pink leather tassel so I can find them in the purse large enough to contain all the aforementioned--check.

Oh, yes--and my full size iPad with all my bookie-wookies on it.

All that does not fit into the pretty pink Target purse. Or almost any purse for that matter.

Could I downsize? Sure. The giant iPhone has to stay, but I could get a tiny wallet/card holder for the important cards/cash that attaches to my keys, stash the makeup bag in my glove compartment, leave the superfluous brush at home, carry the iPad in my bare hands, and still have room for a floating chapstick.

Or I could find this amazing Rebecca Minkoff laptop crossbody on super clearance at TJ Maxx and all my problems are solved.

It's actually for a laptop, so there's plenty of room for my tablet, which gives me extra room in the front compartment where there are slots for cards and cash and even my giant Iphone in its giant Otterbox. Keys slide right in without bulging the bag.

AND there's room for a floating chapstick, too.

Michael Kors sandals are TJ Maxx finds also!!! Do you shop there yet? Are you stopping by after work?

  2. Super-cute RM bag! My last "bag" purchase is a very large and very utilitarian rolling laptop case with a ton o' pockets.
