Rainy Day

It hasn't rained in, what, like a week?, and next Wednesday is the closest real chance of rain. That means the Wheelers are on sprinkler duty. Which means that Taylor has officially entered cranky summer mode.

The next Casa Wheeler will be equipped with the mechanical version of tear ducts (i.e., a sprinkler system) so that I no longer have to use mine to provide additional liquid nourishment to the freaking grass. (Picture me whiny-crying as I move a sprinkler from one thirsty patch of grass to another thirsty patch of grass.)

These are from the last time it rained, which, by the way, it did for an entire week straight.

4 Way Dress 1 Way (....what?!?)

Gap's new 4-in-1 dresses are adorable, and although I have tried all four ways privately (at least one of them, the drop waist maxi dress, is a no-go for now, while the others--high waist maxi, tea length maxi and maxi skirt--could work), I've only worn this out as a high waist maxi. I'll update with other ways after I've done some very fashionable research!

Day to Night

Day to Night Barbie was one of my favorite Barbies growing up. She had this very fetching pink work outfit--long pink pencil skirt and blazer, with a wide brimmed (plastic) hat trimmed in pink (sticker tape) and a pink and white briefcase. Oh, but her shoes...her shoes were the greatest. White pumps with a pink cap toe. That was Day Barbie.

Night Barbie just whipped her pencil skirt inside out and it immediately became a fluffy, flowing dancing skirt. I imagine she ditched the hat in the back seat of her Pink Corvette (or red Ferrari--my Barbies had both) along with her blazer stuffed inside her briefcase.

She kept the shoes, of course.

This isn't so much a day to night outfit as a work to play one. But if I'd called it that, I wouldn't have been able to talk about Day to Night Barbie, and I wouldn't be able to point out that I bought these cap toe-ish shoes just because they reminded me of Barbie's.

Sam & Libby

Sam & Libby were the only brand of dress shoes I remember having as a child. My favorite pair were plain ballet flats. I think I had them in black and white--because you know those were the only two colors of dress shoes manufactured for little girls between the years of 1984-1995. Also during those years, mothers strictly enforced the No White After Labor Day rule, meaning that on the first Tuesday of September, you wore your black shoes. It didn't matter that it was 100 degrees still and the only comfortable warm weather dresses you had were all light florals--your shoes were black.

So I have this latent hostility nostalgia for Sam & Libby shoes, and no one told me that they were coming to Target?? Like, YESTERDAY?

And heres the pair I captured Sunday afternoon:

Fun fact that I didn't know until recently--the Sam in Sam & Libby is the Sam of Sam Edelman shoes. The more you know!

If I get a black pair, I'm wearing them whenever I want.

Salute to Pink

Gosh, at the pink that's been going on with me lately. I thought I'd toughen it up a little this time, with some camo pants.

Yeah, I look really tough.

I've been looking for this color of pink lipstick for-ev-ah. It's Flower Kiss Stick High-Shine Lipstick in Tulips by Drew Barrymore for Walmart.

Because nothing says tough like baby pink lipstick...

...and your mommy in your frames. :)

Easy Peasy, O-C-D-eesy: Purse Edition

I have a love/hate relationship with purses. I love them for all the reasons that you would love a purse--like its utility or overall general prettiness--but I also hate them for those exact same reasons.

Because sometimes a purse's prettiness is inversely proportional to its utility.

Case in point--I purchased a really wonderful pink crossbody that was super cheap from Target. I see it on everyone. Everyone but me.

Do you know how much stuff it takes to keep me happy every day? Giant wallet with every single card that counts as money and coupon known to man contained within--check. Giant iPhone 5 with its giant Otterbox--check. Hair brush that I never use but have just in case, even though there's one in my car--check. Gum, but only the kind that comes in a giant plastic box--check. Makeup bag containing Purell because everything in the outside world is icky, hand lotion because even Purell dries my hands out and I hate it when touching everything feels like licking a wooden ice cream spoon, lipstick of the day (or lipsticks of the week, depnding on whether I empty my purse out at the end of the day or just add stuff to it until it explodes), hair ties, bobby pins, all the medicine in the world, etc.--check. A tiny tube of chapstick floating around all on its own because trying to drive and unzip a makeup bag buried in the bottom of your purse is dangerous--check. Keys with giant pink leather tassel so I can find them in the purse large enough to contain all the aforementioned--check.

Oh, yes--and my full size iPad with all my bookie-wookies on it.

All that does not fit into the pretty pink Target purse. Or almost any purse for that matter.

Could I downsize? Sure. The giant iPhone has to stay, but I could get a tiny wallet/card holder for the important cards/cash that attaches to my keys, stash the makeup bag in my glove compartment, leave the superfluous brush at home, carry the iPad in my bare hands, and still have room for a floating chapstick.

Or I could find this amazing Rebecca Minkoff laptop crossbody on super clearance at TJ Maxx and all my problems are solved.

It's actually for a laptop, so there's plenty of room for my tablet, which gives me extra room in the front compartment where there are slots for cards and cash and even my giant Iphone in its giant Otterbox. Keys slide right in without bulging the bag.

AND there's room for a floating chapstick, too.

Michael Kors sandals are TJ Maxx finds also!!! Do you shop there yet? Are you stopping by after work?

Where did my pants go?

Not a question I normally ask myself, although one of my funniest cheerleading memories involves pants. It was during basketball season of my junior year and the game was wrapping up. We had already put our tracksuits on over our uniforms. Something happened (maybe you remember, Adrienne?) and I was needed IMMEDIATELY do to a basket toss. 11 girls at once trying to remove my trackpants without getting them stuck on my shoes = hilarity.

This, however, is not funny. These amazing pants disappeared right off the Gap website last week:

Update: They are now back on the website, but you have to search for them. Alas, when you do the search and find the pants, Gap tells you they are out of stock.
